News from Twang Central
Jan. 1, 2009- Happy New Year!
2009 is finally here and our new year is shaping up quite nicely.
Shows in the future include more Eve Selis Band performances at our favorite local venue Anthology as well as Back to the Garden's CSNY Retrospective and the debut of our Eric Clapton tribute in Feb.
We're lining up more house concerts (John and Patty's is a must) and we'll throw in some fun 'theme' shows like another Haunted House concert and something we call 'Happy Sappy Crappy Love Songs' where we'll sing (and no doubt you'll sing along to) tunes we all love to hate.
We're hitting the shores of England for our annual summer tour in early July and reuniting with some good friends there.
We'll return to Scripps for the wonderful Green Flash concert series and we'll throw some songwriting workshops into the mix this year to keep things interesting.
Keep an eye on our Tour page for updates and we'll see you soon.
Cheers,
Eve and Marc
Dec. 7, 2008- Mike Peters
Received sad news today - our former keyboard player Mike Peters passed away Sunday morning of leukemia after a 7 1/2 year fight. Mike was a member of the Eve Selis Band (and Kings Road) from 1992 through 1999, but more than that he was a friend.
I first met Mike around 1972 when his sister Barbara joined my band high school hippie band Harvest as our lead singer. Mike was a few years older and we were all in awe of Mike and his talent, so we couldn't imagine ever being given the opportunity to work with him as he was light years ahead of us. Then in 1984 (the year I met Eve!) I asked him to join a band I was working with called the London Brothers and he said yes. That began a working relationship that continued through last Dec. when we played what was to be our final gig together with the Eve Selis Band.
Mike was talented, funny, unpretentious, hard working, and most importantly always straightforward and honest, so you always knew where you stood with him.
Do me a favor ... If you own a copy of our CD Out On A Wire please listen to it and you'll again appreciate the beauty of his musicianship. He played a blazing solo on the hidden track 'Son of a Preacher Man' that still leaves me awestruck.
We will all miss his smile and amazing gifts.
Please say a prayer for his wife Tracy and their children Brady and Maggie at this difficult time.
Peace,
Marc

Sep. 18, 2008- Eve Selis wins 6th San Diego Music Award!
We won Best Americana at the 2008 San Diego Music Awards show last night. We apologize for our inability to attend, but Eve has been laid out this week with a very nasty cold and the rest of us were working.
We would like to say thanks to all who voted for us and we're absolutely delighted, or as our British friends say, we're chuffed and gobsmacked!
THANK YOU SAN DIEGO!!
Love,
Eve, Marc, Larry, Rick, Jim and Sharon

It's a three for one day as three of our favorite people celebrate birthdays today.
The tour started out with a great show with those wild and crazy Norwegians. Eve, Rick and Jim all got sunburns at 9 o'clock at night!

Mar. 13, 2008- CD release show coming soon
Some of you may have noticed that we had our CD release show scheduled for April 19th and then it disappeared from our website. The reason? Eve, Jim and Sharon all came down with a nasty virus last month and none of them could sing. Happily, all have recovered and we finished recording last week and are now mixing and mastering ... we're looking at a May release, so please keep an eye on the website for more details as we confirm the venue and date.
Thanks to all who came out to Anthology last Sat. night for our 3rd CSNY tribute show. We sold out (or as Larry likes to say, we sold out a long time ago) and are making plans to do it again in Aug.
Cheers,
M-to-tha-izzarc Twizzang
(if you wanna have fun and aren't easily offended, go to gizoogle.com and paste in this page or any web page for that matter ... my wife P-to-tha-izzalla Twizzang found it)

And to keep things interesting we'll perform the show chronologically starting with the 1st CSN album, moving into some of Deja Vu, then 4 Way Street and into the solo years ...
This will be an early performance beginning at 7:30pm and ending at 9pm so that we can accommodate our baby boomer fans (and us too!)

Dec. 21, 2007- News Years Message from Eve
So I'm sitting here in my dining room looking at my Christmas tree which we finally finished decorating last night even though we've had it for two weeks now. It's been a hectic time lately. The band has been recording and rehearsing and gigging all the while! I'm flat out beat and I'm starting to catch a cold, not to mention the lack of sleep I've had these past seven months... but Oh... the Blessings I've received!!
I am simply amazed at the turn of events my life took this past year. At the ripe old age of 43 I loved being pregnant with my son Henry. The entire journey has overwhelmed my life and filled me up with renewed wonder and love for God. Having delivered a healthy baby boy with my entire family and best friends present is the best gift I could ever been given this year. My husband Tom and I hardly watch TV anymore... we just watch Henry and laugh a lot. It reminds us of the same time we shared with our first children and gives us perspective on how fast it all goes.
As always I am optimistic that 2008 will bring us all wonderful new friends and musical experiences to savor. We are wrapping up our latest CD and can't wait to share it with our friends here in the States and across the pond in England, France and Norway where we'll be touring in July.
I wish you all the happiest of holidays and every good wish for the coming year!
Love,
eve

Tickets are now available for our holiday show on Dec. 15th at Seaside Center ...
We're offering $10 tickets for children (not applicable to the VIP seats) to make it more affordable for families to attend, and we're pleased to have with us again this year the children's chorus from Carmel Del Mar Elementary ... please go to our Tour page and click on the link to purchase tickets ...
We're back in the studio to continue work on our new CD Angels and Eagles and are looking at a Feb. release date ...
The CSNY gang are all back together again on Dec. 18th at Anthology to raise money for victims of the Oct. wildfires ... advance tickets can be bought at the Anthology website www.anthologysd.com
Happy Holidaze!
Oct. 28, 2007- Looking ahead
Our prayers and thoughts go out to all who suffered because of the fires. We'll do our best to help raise much needed money whenever and wherever possible.
What we have on our immediate schedule is another 'Back to the Garden' CSNY show at Anthology on Dec. 18th with the same lineup of Eve Selis, Peter Bolland, Tim Flannery and Berkley Hart, and all proceeds will go to victims of the 2007 Wildfires.
And thanks to all who came out on Sat. night to watch our CSNY tribute concert. Over 300 showed and as Jim said, it surpassed our wildest expectations.
Looking ahead for the Eve Selis Band - We're making our Anthology debut on Nov. 3rd and will follow another San Diego Music Award winner Gregory Page that night ...
We're back in the recording studio the next week to lay down more tracks for our soon to released CD Angels and Eagles ...
We're singing with Tim Flannery on Nov.10th at Seaside .. go to his website www.timflannery.com or our Tour page for details ...
We have a few holiday shows planned in Dec. so keep an eye on this site for updates.
God Bless
Oct. 25, 2007- Fires/Friends/CSNY Show Update
Jim and Sharon still have a house! It's covered with ash but it's there ...
Our good friend Kirk Arnold (he recorded our CD Out on a Wire) lives in a beautiful hillside home in Ramona, and his wife reported that fire fighters took a stand in their DRIVEWAY and held off the fire and saved their home as well as their recording studio ...
Please come out this Sat. night to Seaside Center in Encinitas ... we're on for our Back to the Garden CSNY Tribute show ... plenty of tickets left, and from what you've been telling us via phone calls and email we all need some time together and some great music to bring healing to our strong and wonderful community.
Cheers
Oct. 23, 2007- San Diego Fires
We hope this email finds you all safe and
well ...
Like most people in San Diego we have been directly affected by the wildfires ....
Jim and Sharon were evacuated out of their home in Ramona and don't know if it's still there ..
Sharon is encouraged that their answering machine is working and Jim joked that when they return it will be the only thing there amongst the rubble ...
Larry and Patty left Carmel Valley last night (Monday) as did Paula and I ... We spent the night at Eve and Tom's and are now back
home where we have found everything intact though all is covered in ash ...
Eve and Tom managed to stay put as did Rick out in Coronado ...
A couple of things of note -
The Thursday night Gram Parsons show at the Belly Up is postponed ...
Our CSNY tribute show on Sat. night is definitely going on as scheduled and their will be plenty of tickets available at the door ...
The BOO Parade on Sat. in La Mesa has been tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 1st.
Best of luck to all!
Cheers,
Marc
Oct. 18, 2007- CSNY show - Tim Flannery just added!
We're pleased to announce the addition of Tim Flannery to our CSNY tribute show on Oct. 27th.
You can click on our Tour link and then scroll down to the date to buy your advance tickets.
On another note, we had a blast performing at the BB King concert last Sat. and it was an honor to be included in the show ... most impressive was Paul Rodgers .. he still has an amazing voice and puts his whole body into belting out his songs and it was great fun to watch it all from the wings, and I can honestly say we were happy to NOT follow the Blind Boys of Alabama .. they tore it up!
Sea you at Seaside.
Cheers,
Eve, Marc, Jim, Sharon, Rick and Larry

Please go to our Tour page and click on the link to purchase tickets with PayPal. Special limited VIP tickets are available as well.
If you'd like to bypass fees you can go to our tour page for an address to send your check.
Here's the back-story .... Ten years ago the Eve Selis Band, then known as King's Road, opened a show for Crosby Stills and Nash at the SDSU Open Air Theater. It remains one of our most memorable gigs, with Nash and Stills in the wings watching and cheering us on and greeting us as we exited the stage after a great reception from the audience. During their set Stephen Stills credited our song Cry Of Love as an inspiration (Marc played a long and wicked solo during the tune) and then dedicated Dark Star to Eve and the band.
To celebrate that night we're presenting an evening of CSN&Y music played by Cactus Twang and Whyte with Eve, and are bringing along good friends Berkley Hart and Peter Bolland.
Come on out and let your freak flag fly!

Anything goes so have fun!
Mar. 15, 2007- Back home to family, friends and new babies
It's great to be back on our home turf after so much travel these past few months ...
Here's what we've got going on ...
Eve has been very healthy and she and Tom are anxiously awaiting the May arrival of Samuel Clemons Selis Gulotta Jr. ... we only have two more shows in March and then we'll send her off to confinement (an English term) in April and May ...
We started recording a new CD in Jan. (working title 'Angels and Eagles') and will continue in June and hope to have something out by late summer so keep watching the website for info about that ..
After a successful 3 week UK tour we had a few days at home before heading out to Las Vegas for a huge real estate convention where we rubbed elbows with Colin Powell, Jerry Lewis and Ed McMahon, and drummer Larry managed a quick chat and drum lesson from
Ed ...
Eve and I kept a tour diary of our time in England and we'll be posting it on our website very soon along with some great photos taken by us and our fans, but until then here are a few highlights from mine -
Day 2 - Soho/London -
Off to London the next day for an appearance at the Borderline in Soho as part of the Bob Harris show ...
I parked right at the front door of the venue and we were downstairs maybe 5 minutes when the manager came running by us shouting that a teenager was breaking into our car ... we went upstairs and found our passenger side window broken and glass everywhere .... the thief made off with Eve’s American cell phone and a worthless bag but left our 2 laptops in the backseat, proving the thief was really stupid and we were really lucky ....
The Borderline was packed to standing room only, and we performed a too quick 30 minute set and it was over just as we were getting warmed up ...
Around midnight our window was fixed while we visited with our friends and then we said goodbye and happily made our way back to our Bayswater hotel .. When I opened the door to my room Eve and I almost fell over laughing when I found that I was to sleep in the equivalent of a walk- in closet but made the best of it as that is typical of a ‘budget’ room in London .... Eve played the pregnancy card ( the first of many) so that she could stay in the double room, and yes the other rooms were so small that Jim figured out that he could change the channels to the TV while sitting on the toilet, and I tried my best to answer the phone while standing in the shower but couldn’t quite reach.
Day 3 - Farndale/N. Yorkshire -
We performed the next night in N. Yorkshire in a valley (Old Mill near Farndale) just below the Yorkshire Moors ...
Stunning is the best way to describe it and I now understand why my sister Linda has lived in Yorkshire for 40 years ....
Something that’s been on all of our minds since this tour was booked is how 6 months pregnant Eve will hold up to the stress of 14 shows in 18 days and all the travel ahead ... as of now her voice has never sounded better ... so far so good.
Day 19 - Gatwick Airport
Performed a slightly loose but fun show last night in Chelmsford fueled by fatigue and a couple of pre-show pints ... We invited openers Society up on stage to play a rousing rendition of Folsom Prison Blues and then finished with a sentimental version of Goodbye and then it really was time to say goodbye to so many friends ....
Now that we’re at the end of things I can say that Jim, Eve and I are all surprised and happy that her voice sounded as strong on the last night as it did on the first night ... hmm, maybe that’s why opera singers carry that extra weight though they don’t go thru the trouble of getting pregnant to do it ...
Final thought from Jim - Why do the British take such pride in their Full English Breakfast? Baked beans and hard bacon?? C’mon people! We don’t brag about Denny’s in the States!! Love yer beer though.
Cheers,
Marc
Dec. 24, 2006- End Of Year Wrapup
How did we get to the end of this year so fast? I’m sitting here at the computer looking at my 2006 calendar and I am truly baffled. I know that time speeds up as we get older but this is getting ridiculous. The strange thing about this year is that it also seemed longer than a year. Much of that was due to my friend Mattie Mills discovering breast cancer on Mother’s Day and having a double mastectomy in July with chemotherapy starting in August and just ending this past Wednesday, Dec. 20th. Now that experience felt like 3 years! We had an amazing benefit concert for her in October and raised close to $50,000!! It was also a survivor celebration and there were so many women there with stories of their fight and complete understanding of what Mattie is going through that everyone commented on the strong energy and spiritual connection the entire evening. Mattie was able to make a contribution of $5,500.00 to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation and is looking forward to a healthy cancer-free 2007!
As I look through each month I see that we were very busy this year. There were many trips out of town and a highlight was out of the country in the UK! Our tour was very successful. We had a blast and made many new fans. It was great to hook up with our friends from Proper Records and our new agent Bob Paterson! We are very lucky to have a great team working hard for us. We’ll be going back over in February so check our tour schedule and keep an eye out for us! We are also looking forward to starting a new CD in 2007 as well, so please check back for updates!
A wonderful blessing has occurred in my life and I am officially announcing that I am pregnant! My husband Tom and I are thrilled beyond words and look forward to welcoming our son in May, 2007.
Wow! There are so many things to look forward to in 2007. Good health, new music, a new life – who would have thought that all of this would unfold as we sang Auld Lang Syne last December 31st??? All I know is that I’m getting fat & I’m happy right now… That’s such a wonderful thing to say and to really feel! With all the crazy things going on in this world it’s good to know we can always count on you for your support and encouragement of our music. So on that note, Marc, Bob, Rick, Sharon, Jim, Larry and I wish you all a very blessed holiday season. I’ll leave you with a present of sorts. I hope you enjoy this beautiful song and take the message to heart, “Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men”. (and check out that belly!)
Much love and peppermint flavored kisses to you all!
Happy New Year!

Oct. 18, 2006- Music for Mattie a great success
Thank you all so much for making the Music For Mattie concert a huge success! To see Mattie sing onstage with the Heroes was an inspiration ... what an amazing woman!
So many to thank - Bill Griffith, Steve Redfearn from Viejas, Noreen Ippolito, Mike Reilly, Mike Pritchard at Humphrey's and the whole staff there, my sister Gabrielle (wasn't her speech astounding??) Bill Porter, Anita York, Tom Boyd, and too many other volunteers to mention but you know who you are, and of course the bands - The Heroes, Burt Brion, my band (Marc, Jim, Sharon, Rick, Bob and Larry) and Rockola.
We'll update as we get the final $$$ figures in so stay tuned.
God bless!
Eve

Sep. 21, 2006- Congratulations Berkley Hart!
Our good pals Jeff and Calman won a much deserved San Diego Music Award as Best Americana Album for their latest CD "Pocket Change" and all of us from the Eve Selis Band wanted to say congratulations. As for us it was an honor just to be nominated ... wait, my wife is yelling something from the kitchen ... what? We weren't nominated? ..... never mind .....
Congrats guys!
Marc and Eve
Sep. 20, 2006- Please mark your calendars-Music for Mattie Benefit Concert
Mattie Mills is one of San Diego's shining lights and one of this city’s most respected women. She has been singing in the popular band, The Heroes, for 19 years and has done countless charity events, giving her time and talent to help this community in so many ways. More importantly she's the mother of 4 children. On Mother's Day of this year, she found a lump in her right breast. Since then she's had 3 surgeries including a double mastectomy and on August 16th started 4 months of aggressive chemotherapy.
I sang with Mattie for more than 8 years. We remained friends after I left the Heroes in 1999, but over the past year Mattie and I have gotten very close again. We are writing a book together and developing some ideas for TV shows. This cancer is a huge shock that has deeply affected our families and friends. I have been doing annual fundraisers for City Of Hope Breast Cancer Research since my sister Gabrielle was diagnosed a few years ago. Now this — and every day more and more women (and men) we know are being stricken with this terrible curse so it's time to fight back. Heroes' bandleader Tom Boyd and I both hit upon the idea of a fundraiser for Mattie separately, as Mattie would never in a million years ask for help like this, but this is something that she certainly needs and deserves.
We also think this could reach a much bigger scale because as we look for the much-needed breast cancer-specific support services here in San Diego, we are shocked to find them lacking. (At least for a city of this size.) So we'd not only like to take care of Mattie and make sure she's covered financially for the next 6 months, we'd like to establish what could turn into an annual event to help breast cancer support organizations.
The show is called Music 4 Mattie and is Sunday, October 15th at Humphrey's on the main stage and performing with us that day will be Steely Damned, Rockola, the Heroes and Burt Brion. More details are posted on my tour page, so please set aside the date for this wonderful concert and help make a difference.

Sep. 1, 2006- Eve and the Doobie Bros.
We had an amazing night on Aug. 29th when we open the Doobie Bros. show at Humphrey's. The sound was killer, the crew was great and the band couldn't have been nicer. Check us out.
We wanted to share with you an email written the morning after by our dear friend Anita York.
p.s. If anyone has any more photos or footage of the show that you'd like to share please send them to us at eve@eveselis.com.
Aug. 30, 2006
Eve and Marc and Jim opened for the Doobie Brothers to a Sold Out crowd at Humphrey's last Tuesday and blew them away with their 30 minute set.
Half way through the Doobie Brothers show, Pat Simmons (composer and singer of the classic song 'Black Water') stopped and thanked the crowd, what a great city San Diego is, etc etc. Then he said:
"It's an honor for us to follow Eve Selis. We had the pleasure of seeing her perform last night at the Backstage Club. I've just discovered her and I don't understand why she's not a huge star in her own right. I don't get it. If there's a producer out there, you need to give her a contract."
In my 40+ years of attending concerts, I've never, ever heard an artist at that level effuse such praise on an opening act. Later they invited Eve on stage to sing "Listen To The Music" with them as the finale.
Not only is Pat Simmons an Eve Selis fan, but his wife, Cris, became a big supporter. I tried to give her a copy of the "Do You Know Me" DVD but she insisted on paying for it. Later, as I was watching the Doobies, she tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the Eve Selis hat on her head. She never took it off.
As many of you already know, I shout from the highest mountain top that NOBODY works harder than Eve Selis. And no one was more deserving of Tuesday night's accolades, kudos and praise than Eve.
Who knows what will come of it. We've all been at this too long to hold our collective breaths, but the Simmons were genuine and sincere in their heart felt praise and warmth.
It was a dream come true for Eve to sing on stage with the Doobie Brothers. So richly deserved.
It was an honor for me to be a part of it and a witness to it. An
evening I will always remember.
Anita
Aug. 27, 2006- A great success
A huge thank you to those who attended the Jessica Smith/ Eve Selis fundraiser Saturday night. We raised loads of cash for Cerebral Palsy, and the evening was topped off with an amazing moment as Jessica walked across the stage into my arms. Special thanks to Dr. Scott Shoemaker for the tender words, Kimberly King for being a great emcee and to Kim McLean and my band for their generous hearts and amazing talent.
Here's a link to some photos. Enjoy!

Jul. 29, 2006- we're baaaaack
Just a quickie entry to say hello and we're happy to be back home with our loved ones. We had a record breaking tour of England (well, at least the temperatures were record breaking) and were thrilled at the continued support by our UK fans. We'll post more about the tour very soon but in the meantime we're asking anyone who attended our shows in England to please send any video footage or photos to us at eve@eveselis.com and we'll include a credit on our website.
Cheers,
Eve, Marc and the band
Jun. 30, 2006- On the road again
We've had quite a month of travel where we performed in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Bedford and Athens Texas, and ending with a trip to Phoenix. Everyone was gracious wherever we went and we were particularly charmed by Old Bedford school. Thanks to Karin, Sandy and Bobbi for making our first trip to Texas a memorable one.
Athens Texas was hot but alot of fun. They have a thriving arts center there and appear very supported by the locals. Thunder Bridge opened the show and were fabulous. Jeff, Steve and his wife Leanna sang beautiful harmonies and we brought them onstage with us for a few of our tunes to round out the night.
We were back in our home town for a few days and played a house concert at Ben and Sue's and managed to fit a couple of songs in between the boy's story telling. Give them a few beers and the tounges really loosen up!
The folks in Del Mar brought us back for one our favorite park concerts at Powerhouse Park on June 20th. It's an amazing setting right on the ocean where we performed a sunset show. We kept pinching ourselves and were stunned that we actually get paid to play there.
We're gobsmacked to be returning to England and are looking forward to meeting back up with our friends there beginning July 5th when we start a 3 week tour. Check out our tour page for the schedule. Always great to see our pals at Proper Records - Gaz, Malcolm and Paul, Alan Price, Mick and Jane, as well as Colin and Elaine, Gary and Gill and of course Josh and Dave Blosse.
Cheers,
Eve
Apr. 8, 2006- Looking back
Hello everyone and we hope this finds you well.
We want to start out with a huge thank you to all of our friends and fans who turned out for our 15th Anniversary show on Feb. 25th at Seaside. We'd like to extend an invitation to you to share any photos or video footage with us by emailing them to Eve at eve@eveselis.com. We'd love to post them on our website.
On to other news - we started the year off with a great house concert at Jill and Jeff Sugar's home and managed to raise some much needed funds for City of Hope. The Sugar family was very giving of their time and efforts and we are thankful.
If you weren't able to attend that show you have another chance to help out City of Hope in a few weeks. Eve and her Everyday Angels team are raising more money for a May 6th morning Eve Selis Band concert and Walk-a-thon ($3,200 as of this writing) and if you'd like to join her team please click on this link. If you can't make it out that morning please feel free to donate anyway. Every donation helps to wipe out cancer.
Eve and I just returned from a quickie trip out to Nashville and a Hippie Chick Twang show at 12th & Porter with our good friend and producer Kim McLean. We met an Irish DJ by the name of Ralph McLean (no relation) who happened to be in town gathering interviews for a Radio 2 documentary on Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. He interviewed us after the show and will run it in Ireland on his Alt-Country music show in the next couple of weeks.
Check out our 'Tour' link for information on upcoming performances at Humphrey's on April 14th and a May 13th show where the Queen of Boogie Woogie (Sue Palmer) meets the Queen of Roadhouse Rock (Bob Sale, uh, I mean Eve Selis).
That's it for now.

Apr. 6, 2006- Sad News
Sad news to report - our good pal and fellow musician Buddy Blue passed away suddenly a few days ago. We played a few shows last year with his band the Farmers and were always impressed with his passion as well as his sincere approach to his music. His column in the SD Union Tribune was given the same treatment; always honest, passionate and at times very funny (as long as you weren't on the receiving end of his criticism which fortunately we weren't). A memorial fund has been established to help his wife Annie raise their 3-year-old daughter Talulah (“Lulu”). Here's a link to Buddy’s website.
Goodbye Buddy and God bless you.
Love,
Eve, Marc, Bob, Rick, Jim and Sharon
Feb. 21, 2006- 15th Anniversary show almost here!
Just a quick note to let you know the latest regarding our 15th anniversary show this coming Sat. Feb. 25th.
Eve has been busy digging through old photos and videos and will put them on display in the lobby. She even found a photo of our very first gig in Feb. 1991, so be sure to check out my bad attempt at a McCartney haircut that sadly turned me into a Moe Howard lookalike instead.
We've had alot of fun working up some of our old Kings Road material and will be performing tunes from our first 2 CD's 'Where Angels Walk' and 'Heaven And Earth' including the very first song we wrote together.
Finally, you can still purchase tickets online at our website using PayPal or you can show up Sat. night and buy tickets at the door.
Cheers,
Marc Twang
Jan. 29, 2006- 15th Anniversary
Howdy from Twang Central.
January was a pretty quiet month for us, but a highlight was our trip to Pioneer Town near Joshua Tree. Pappy and Harriet's was a gem in the high desert. We had a blast performing there and hope to return soon. Special thanks to our pal Kenny Newbury and his great band the Slidewinders.
We're looking forward to another great night of friendship and music with Tim Flannery at the California Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 4th. Check out our Tour link for ticket info.
Hey, any Johnny Cash fans out there? Who isn't, right? Check out the new DVD from Austin City Limits and New West Records -a great concert from 1987 featuring our own Cactus Jim Soldi on guitar. (Yes, he's the one with the perm!! Ah, the 80s.)
And finally ...
Click here for ticket information regarding our big 15th anniversary show at Seaside on Feb. 25th.
Cheers,
Eve
p.s. check out the fab trio of Cactus, Twang and Whyte at the Calypso on Feb. 6th and Feb. 19th at 7pm!
Jan. 2, 2006- Happy New Year!!
Hello and happy new year!
As we say good-bye to 2005 we look back at our accomplishments fondly, and yet we feel great excitement for what's in store for 2006.
Eve and I are celebrating our 15th year together as a musical team, and it seems like only yesterday that we joined together for a partnership that would endure many changes, both musically and visually.
Looking ahead, we are performing a 15th anniversary show on Feb. 25th at Seaside Church in Encinitas, and the evening will bring lots of reminiscences as well as surprises so make sure you get your tickets early as this one is sure to sell out ... Also, we have a summer tour of England planned for the month of July and will kick it off by headlining the Friday night slot at the Americana Festival in Nottingham, so to our UK friends we ask you to keep watching our schedule.
We need to say thank you to you, our unique and wonderful audience for coming to our shows year after year, and want to give you a glimpse of what's in store for you.
As we navigate the waters of life and journey thru the valleys of musical moods, we'll explore new uncharted territories, seeking out unique ways to give voice to our many muses.
Eve and I are grateful to have a supportive and loving band to share our experiences with. Bob has been working with us for 14 years and is as rock solid as ever. We rescued him from a band that was going nowhere and boy is he glad we did! What a bunch of losers eh?
Also, he's planning a solo CD of his fave inspirational songs so keep a keen eye out for that one.
Jim and Sharon are the finest husband/wife team around and are starting their 6th year with the band.
What can we say about Rick that hasn't been said? Rick, we love you man!
In closing let me say that we are happy to have you with us as we begin the next 15 years of magic and we'll see you soon.
Cheers,
Marc Twang
Nov. 28, 2005- Holiday Drought
So is everybody still drowsy from Turkey hangover? My family and I took a 5-and-a-half hour flight to Florida to see my husband's family. We got to see the cute nephew and nieces and even took an airboat tour of the Everglades—five alligators and a huge flock of ibis. Too cool. Got to do a fun gig before we left with American Idol runner-up Bo Bice at Croce's to help him celebrate winning the 2005 Jim Croce Music Award. Got back just in time to play a gig with Jason Mraz, James Blunt and the Coyote Problem at Border's downtown to celebrate the release of KPRI's Live Tracks Volume Three, which has tons of cool live songs by tons of cool artists, including ME!! They used a live version of "Happy To Be With You" from the show we did this summer at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Cactus Jim's solo is mind-blowing!!! This is the third year we've been included and we so appreciate KPRI for all their support over the years. Go out and get one before they sell out. All proceeds benefit Voices For Children.
So, does anybody want to buy a guitar for Christmas? Just so happens that I'm selling my gorgeous and beloved blue Taylor 612CE on Ebay. I just got the new T-5 and have to come up with the cash, pronto. I do love the 612 but the Taylor guys have sent Guido and boys to collect the dough so I need to hock Ol' Blue to the highest bidder. I'll even sign it if one of you wins!
Not many shows coming up but this weekend's "Songs of the Season" with Tim Flannery, Berkley Hart, Mary Dolan and the Carmel Del Mar Elementary Kids Chorus should be a blast. I hope to see you there. We're doing a lot of private parties this month so there are only a few opportunities to come out and see us play.
This has been a great year for fundraisers and I've been privileged to have been a part of so many shows for so many great causes. I want to thank all of my fans and friends for supporting not only me and the band but all of these other organizations trying to meet the desperate needs in our world. You guys continue to blow me away with your unflagging dedication. Together we raised thousands of dollars this year. I'm blessed to count you as my friends. Have a wonderful holiday season and a blessed new year!
cheers,
eve
Nov. 1, 2005- Catch Up!
I am in a great mood! I finally finished cleaning my house after starting a month ago. I'm a pretty good cleaner and an even better procrastinator....but with the extra hour of sleep after setting my clocks back I was able to get it done and have enough time to update my news page...something else I procrastinate about. Let's see, when did you last hear from me? Ah yes...the first hurricane of September. CD Baby helped any musician on their website that wanted to donate CD sales raise a total of $165,060 over the last 7 weeks, sent directly to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Thanks to all my fans who purchased an Out On A Wire CD through the CD Baby website.
Let's just rewind the tape and get all caught up. We had a very busy September! We opened for SheDaisy at Humphries on the 7th and it was one of our best gigs to date...we had an amazing response! Jumped on a plane the next morning and we were off to Nashville for the Americana Music Association Conference. We played an official conference showcase that evening at The Basement. The next night was the Americana Music Awards at The Ryman Auditorium (It's the original Grand Ol' Opry). It was a magical evening. Performances by Solomon Burke, Judy Collins, Mary Gauthier, Buddy Miller and Steve Earle were standout moments. We flew back the next day to play at OMBAC's Coming Out Party in Pacific Beach! What a great excuse for a big party. We had so much fun they asked us back for next year:0)
Monday night, the 12th, was the San Diego Music Awards and we won Best Americana! I accepted the award with my daughter Sarah. The show will be broadcast on Fox 6 sometime in November. Later that week, Marc, Jim and I went to Indiana for another showcase and we were hosted by my cousins, Bill and Marnie in Indianapolis! It was great hanging with family and getting to see another beautiful city in this country...it's just huge and we want to see all of it! We returned to San Diego to perform at the Emilio Nares Foundation fundraiser. It was a very rewarding experience and they raised much needed funds for such a great cause. Next was an event for the Police and Sheriff 's Department. It was also a reunion with Larry on drums as Bob was vacationing in Maui with his family!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and my sister Gabrielle just celebrated one year cancer free! It also happened to be the most fundraisers we've ever done in one month. First we were back at SeaWorld for their annual Sea to Shining Sea celebration and we played 2 days. The following weekend was a fundraiser called Buddy Walk at Balboa Park with our dear friend Rachel Ford joining us on guitar and then off for bratwurst and beer at the La Mesa Oktoberfest!! It was oomp pa pah and delicious! On Friday the 14th, Marc and I joined The Mentals on stage with one of San Diego's best songwriters, Joey Harris! It's called The Joey Show and we rocked out baby!! We moved on to Humphries the next night and played our last gig there for a while. They are remodeling the whole place and it should be an even better venue to play when they are finished. October 19th we were headlining back at The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach..actually it was an evening with Eve Selis. The other bands had to cancel so it was anything goes, and it was a blast.
Our 2nd Annual Project Warmth fundraiser with the Everyday Angel Foundation on the 22nd was a great success. Proceeds went to Katrina victims, the Storefront and Helen Woodward Animal Center. Thanks to everyone who skipped the first World Series game and came out to support this event. and special thanks to Anita York for all of her hard work putting the show together. The next night we played a house concert in Ramona and I got a picture of everyone who bought a hat that night. Don't we look cute!! We performed at a fundraiser for Children's Hospital on the 27th and ended the month with another Katrina Fundraiser at the Silver Gate Yacht Club! Phew! I think we have the most generous fans in the world and I would like to thank my band as well. They are always there to help support the causes I believe in.
This weekend we'll be flying Kim McLean out to record a new song called "Any Day" which we're going to be adding to the Nothing But The Truth CD for its U.S. release in the Spring! Yes, we finally have national distribution and you'll be able to find our CDs in stores all across our great country. Our U.K. label Proper Records has started a U.S. label called Proper American and we're excited to be a part of it, alongside great artists like Bobby Purify, Nick Lowe, Chris Difford from Squeeze and others. We'll be shooting a new video for it after the first of the year and we may even record a whole show for a live CD/DVD release as well. We'll keep you informed. Or if I procrastinate, then you'll hear about the day after. Sorry. If somebody would help me clean my house maybe you'd be getting your news on time. Ever think of that? :)
My prayer is that as we move into the holiday season it brings joy and peace to all of us. We need it!!
And I might even have a party this year 'cause my house is clean!!
Much love to you all,
eve.
Sep. 2, 2005- Hurricane Relief
It is impossible to watch the news about the devastation from Hurricane Katrina and not feel helpless and overwhelmed. I want to do something to help and I wish I had a million dollars to donate...even that amount is tiny compared to what it will take to fix this mess. I can, however, use my music to make a small difference, so if you buy my Out On A Wire CD through CD BABY, I am donating all of my profits to the Red Cross. You can click here to purchase it. Even if you already own it, please consider getting it as a gift for someone else. Many wonderful musicians are also donating their sales through CD BABY. And please find other ways of helping, as well.
Our hearts and prayers go out to all the victims for relief, comfort and hope.

Jul. 12, 2005- Eve's Tour Diary Is Up and Running
Hi everyone. You can follow the band on its summer tour by sneaking a peek at Eve's Tour Diary. The link is over there on the sidebar to the right and also in the Chat section. New photos will be added to the Photo Library shortly.
Jul. 6, 2005- Celebrate!
Did everyone have a Happy Fourth of July? What a great day we had!! Sitting in the gorgeous California sun, sipping on some of my brother Dan's home-brewed beer and just being with family. We found time for a nap and then it was off to watch fireworks!
We are so lucky to have all that we have in this country. When I stop to think of the sacrifice of earlier generations to live in a free country and have the opportunity to chase my dreams...I truly am humbled and thankful.
June was a very busy month. We started with Concerts on the Square for KNBC-TV and KPRI. Check out some pics. Then we had a fantastic show at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. Our producer, Kim McLean and radio personality Devon O'Day came out from Nashville to join the show and it was magical! Kim's son, Will, joined her onstage for his first drum solo and knocked our socks off. He's 8 years old and already a force to be reckoned with on those drums. A huge thanks to Joanne Mera at Pacific Events for the gorgeous stage design and to the staff and management at CCA, especially Rob Collier. What a great experience we had there. We recorded audio & video so look for something new on our website soon.
My beautiful friend, Jessica Smith, graduated from Hilltop High School and my band performed at her party. We surprised her with a very special graduation gift that she actually earned herself!! I received a phone call from Christina Loffredo, our contact at City Of Hope and she informed me that my Eve's Everyday Angels team won 2nd place for our fundraising efforts!! Our prize was a 32" Sony TV!! Since Jessica raised $824 on her own as part of my team, I felt she really won the the TV herself. So we presented it to her at her graduation party and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Congrats Jessie!! (see photo)
We played after Lucinda Williams, Robert Earl Keene and Chris Isaak at Humphreys and we made a ton a new fans. Nice full-page article in this month's San Diego Magazine. Then there was the San Diego Fair on July 2nd and O'Fest on July 3rd, where we were joined onstage by the sweetest young rockstar ever- Rachel Ford. It was a busy weekend and the 4th didn't get here soon enough. I'll have barely enough time to relax with my family before we jump on a plane and fly over to England for our summer tour!! I will try to blog everyday or maybe every other day...but I will keep you all in the loop.
We are very excited about this trip and look forward to seeing all our UK fans again!!
Check out our store link- we finally have hats and t-shirts and tanks available!! They make great gifts for yourself and family too!!! Until next time
peace out (spoken with a Kip Dynamite lisp)
May. 22, 2005- Relaunch!
Ok - I just have no good excuse for being 5 months tardy with this news update so I'm not even going to try. Except to say, "My how time flies when you're gigging all over the world!!" I hope everyone has had a great start to the new year and 2005 sure has been interesting so far. Hey, did I mention there are only 27 days left 'til school's out? But who's counting!!!!!
So here goes...
January was a quiet month. We returned to Lizzie Wann's Meeting Grace House Concert and had a wonderful time. We traveled to Hemet for a fundraiser with our good friend Kurt Leavitt and the Hemet High School baseball team...oh and Marc had surgery....OUCH!!~
February kicked off with us joining Tim Flannery at The El Cajon Performing Arts Center for his annual gig...I love to sing with Tim!! Then it was off to Nashville for some songwriting and a showcase gig at The Bluebird Cafe with Kim McLean, Devon O'Day and the Hippie Chick Twang roster. Our UK label, Proper Records president and owner, Malcolm Mills and his wife Miriam, were there and it was great to see them!! We ended the night with a group sing-a-long to a Melanie song, (she sang at Woodstock) "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" with daughters Leilah and Jeordie & all the HCT artists on stage!! We rushed home to be a part of O Berkley Where Hart Thou, an amazing spin off show of songs from the Coen Brothers movie with a similar title, with Berkley Hart, the Seventh Day Buskers, Gregory Page, Lisa Sanders and many other great artists.
March found us traveling back to England for a 2 week tour from Maidstone to London, Bury, Manchester, Bedford and Broadstairs, Ashford, Swindon and Kent. And who could forget getting lost in Biggleswade and Moggarhanger (which we decided was named after an awful hang over:0) Our good friend Dave Blosse opened for many of these shows and drove us around, along with our wonderful tour manager Gerry Mansfield. We were once again spoiled. On Easter Sunday we got to takeover BBC Radio Kent. The host Dave Cash is an awesome guy and for three hours he let us pick all the songs and play some our music live on the air. It was a blast. Check out his website and you can listen to the show and see a fun photo gallery. On the 29th we were back in Swindon at one of our favorite pubs, The Beehive. Check out this photo where I learned to pour my first draft!!
April found us quite happy to be back home in sunny San Diego and we played our first show at Cactus Jim's music store, Valley Music!! It was great to play there!! We recorded an accousic show at Lestats and jumped on the main stage at Humphrey's for a fundraiser with our friend Jeffrey Sitcov, for Photocharity's Concert of Hope to benefit The Storefront, a haven for homeless teens. We were thrilled to return to one of our favorite clubs, The Belly Up Tavern!! We opened for the Blasters. We look forward to playing there again soon!
This brings us to May. We started off on the right foot by walking and performing at The City Of Hope 5K Walk to cure breast cancer event down at the Bay. What a truly rewarding, amazing day. As many of you know my sister was diagnosed last year with breast cancer and after treatment is now 7 months cancer free. I got involved with City of Hope as a way to feel like I was doing something and work through the frustration and anger I felt when the "C" world became part of my reality...oh and to help a great cause!! Now that my sister has had cancer, it's personal. I have 4 sisters, 11 nieces and a daughter who are all at a higher risk. Not to mention all the men in our family who are just as susceptible. This year we organized a team called Eve's Everyday Angels and 21 people joined!! With donations from my fans, my team members, and the help of my dear friend Jessica Smith, (who has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheelchair - she raised $824 on her own) we raised a total of $2914.00!! And there's still time to donate. My sister came and talked about her experience and my family joined us on stage for our last song, "Do You Know Me"...it was very emotional and a perfect way to end the day. Can't wait til next year when my goal is to raise $5000!!!
We are video/ audio recording our show at The Carlsbad Library Theater on Sunday, May 22nd. Look for that footage on the website soon.
Whew!! That was a lot. I'll try to keep this updated more often but I won't promise anything as you've seen my past record. We will be having organized chats with the band and blogging from England so keep checking back often. I hope all is well in your world.
That's it for now from Twang Central!!
See you on the road soon!!
Love,
Eve!
